The North Texas Symphony Association is a 501(c)(3) certificated,
tax-exempt nonprofit organization registered under the Secretary of State of Texas.
Donating to the North Texas Symphony Orchestra will help allow us to keep our concerts free of charge to everyone.
There are many things that we have to purchase, rent, and compensate for. It is only with your help that we can do this.
Purchasing music for an orchestra is not a cheap endeavor. To just buy the score, parts for each instrument, and the rights to perform for 1 five-minute piece can be as much as $600 or more!
Our ensemble has been fortunate to borrow music stands and percussion equipment from wonderful folks in the area, but as we are quickly outgrowing these resources, we need to purchase our own equipment so we can operate independently!
In order to rehearse and perform together as an ensemble, we need a suitable place to rehearse and perform, and while many local churches and venues graciously allow us a discounted rate, they still have to pay their people to come in and unlock the door for us, pay for the electricity we are using, etc., and we want to supply our wonderful venues with that compensation!
A large pillar of what the NTxSO stands for is music education. There are many music educators in our area of operation who have dedicated their entire lives to training up the next generation of musicians.
We want to celebrate some of these incredible educators by having them play solos, accompanied by our orchestra.
These solos can take months, or even longer to learn. In respect of their time and dedication to music education, and the years they have worked to get where they are, we would like to compensate these incredible music educators.
In addition to celebrating music educators, we want to celebrate the brilliant-minded, still living composers, or people who write music, that live in our area. Another pillar of the NTXSO is our celebration of living composers, who live in our area.
In addition to performing “core repertoire” or music we all know and love such as Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Mozart, and Mahler, we want to celebrate composers who are still living and writing music today. Our goal is to introduce the audience to new music they may not have experienced before. Not only can introducing new music broaden a person's interest in music, or even other fine arts, but it can help them become more in touch with their own emotional understanding of themselves, and some of the deepest, most sensitive feelings we have as humans.
We have numerous talented individuals who are excited to let us play their original music, and creative individuals who assist us in creating arrangements or changes to certain pieces to help them fit our ensemble.
Just like our wonderful music educators, at the NTXSO, we believe these wonderful folks also deserve compensation for their practice, education, and time it took for them to attain the wonderful talents they have today.
